Tien Giang: Supporting farmers to achieve VietGAP certification

(vasep.com.vn) On 8th October, Provincial Fisheries Department implemented the training and consultancy plan forVietnam’s good aquaculture practices (VietGAP) . The aim was to certify 2 pangasius farms with total farming area of ​​9 hectares. Annual production of each farm was 1,500 MT and 500 MT.

The support includes VietGAP training, assisting on the quality management programs for farmers, guidance on dialy farming notes, providing supplies, aiding 50% costs for consultancy on environmental impact assessments, internal audits and free VietGAP assessment.

According to Decree 36/2014/ND-CP dated 29th April 2014 issued by the Government on raising, processing, and exporting pangasius, VietGAP or international certificates that are appropriate to Vietnam’s laws must be adopted.  of Vietnam. To 2016, if not adopting these certificates, farms are not allowed to sell their fish to processors for exports.
