(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first 6 months of 2017, the favorable weather facilitated catching activities of ocean tuna in Khanh Hoa province.
According to Lu Thanh Phong, Deputy Director of Department of Natural Resources and Environment (Khanh Hoa Sub-Department of Fisheries of Fisheries), there are 1,312 offshore fishing vessels in the province, of which, there are about 500 tuna fishing vessels. According to the statistics, Khanh Hoa’s tuna production in the first half of the year reached 2,454 MT, up 3% over the same period last year. The chain linkage model between Phuoc Dong Fishery Co-operation Group (Nha Trang city) and Thinh Hung Co., Ltd has prompted fishermen to exploit and preserve the products well.
Mr. Tran Van Dat, Head of Phuoc Dong Fishery Co-operation Group, said that over the past six months, the cooperative members have made 324 trips with the catching output of 1.5 MT/vessel/trip.
According to Khanh Hoa Sub-Department of Fisheries, tuna catches in the province expected to reach 4,500 MT in 2017.
