(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the Sóc Trăng Department of Fisheries, as of May 23, localities in the province have stocked more than 16,000 hectares of shrimp farms, with shrimp farming area loss accounting for 1.8% of the stocked area; the estimated harvest production is 35,500 tons.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) On the afternoon of December 25, at Toan Thinh Conference Center (Soc Trang City), the Soc Trang Fisheries Sub-department, under the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Soc Trang, held a conference to review the 2024 aquaculture activities and outline the brackish water shrimp farming plan for 2025. The event was attended by Ms. Quach Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Soc Trang.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first nine months of 2024, the fishery production of Soc Trang province has continued to be stable and develop. The farming area and fishery output have increased compared to the same period last year. The consumption of seafood products has generally been favorable.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Currently, Soc Trang province plans to expand its shrimp farming area from over 50,000 hectares to 57,000 hectares by 2025, aiming for a production of 233,800 tons and maintaining a $1 billion export value. The project will establish 45 climate-resilient shrimp farming models and ensure all farms meet aquaculture standards for traceability.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) At the meeting to summarize the agricultural sector in 2022 on the afternoon of January 10, the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Soc Trang province, said that the total area of aquaculture in the province reached 75,355 hectares (freshwater, brackish water, salt water ), exceeding 0.47% of the plan (75,000 ha) and increasing 4.28% over the previous year. Total seafood production of Soc Trang province reached 352,763 tons, exceeding 0.22% of the plan (352,000 tons), increasing by 0.6% compared to the previous year (2,121 tons).

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Two products of frozen shrimp and rice exports of Soc Trang province grew strongly in the first 10 months of the year, of which shrimp exports increased by 21%.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) By the end of July 2021, Soc Trang province is leading in seafood export with US$570 million, accounting for 11.3% of Vietnam's total turnover. In which, shrimp exports accounted for 94% with 535 million USD, the rest were fish cakes, surimi, squid, octopus and other mollusks.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The provinces of Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau, Kien Giang and Ben Tre have for many years ranked first in the country in terms of area and production of farmed shrimp, accounting for about 70-80% of output and export value. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted many supply chains of goods and services, but Vietnamese shrimp still "squeeze through the narrow door", overcome the covid wave, and continue its growth momentum in the past time.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the plan, in 2021, Soc Trang province strives to stock brackish water shrimp in 51,000 hectares, with total production expected to reach 172,000 tons.
