(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The output of aquatic product exploited and farmed in Kien Giang since the beginning of the year has reached more than 304,240 tons, reaching 36.64% of the yearly plan and increasing by 9.81% over the same period; of which, aquatic exploitation is about 169,759 tons, reaching 40.42% of the plan.

Kien Giang province is implementing comprehensive measures to achieve a seafood production target of over 830,000 tons in 2025, including 420,000 tons from capture fisheries and over 410,000 tons from aquaculture.

Kien Gian fisheries production from capture and aquaculture reached over 304.240 tons, achieving 36.64% of the annual plan and increasing by 9.81% compared to the same period last year; of which, capture fisheries accounted for approximately 169,759 tons, reaching 40.42% of the plan.

The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang will develop sea aquaculture, focusing on breeding fish in floating cages and bivalve mollusc farming effectively and safely, thereby contributing to enhancing agricultural economic growth in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tam, Director of Kien Giang Fisheries Sub-Department, Kien Giang is one of the leading provinces in piloting the installation of cruise monitoring equipment on fishing ships before the Fisheries Law takes effect. The province is determined to install equipment according to regulations, ensuring that all active fishing boats must install cruise monitoring equipment (VMS) when going to sea.

The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang targets an average annual growth rate of 24 per cent for marine aquaculture from now to 2030.

The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang has planned to further promote sustainable marine aquaculture in line with the “Strategy for the Sustainable Development of Vietnam’s Marine Economy by 2030 with a Vision to 2045”.
