On September 21, 2021, Prime Minister has signed the Directive No. 26/CT-TTg promoting production, circulation, consumption, and export of agricultural products in Covid-19 epidemic management.

(vasep.com.vn) In the Covid era and social distancing that has lasting for more than a year has caused the trend of seafood consumption to change. While fresh, raw, and frozen seafood is negatively affected because of Covid, aquatic products with a long shelf life and easy processing rises in popularity. That is the reason for the nearly 9% growth in Vietnam canned seafood export in 2020 with sales of over 331 million USD.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and Vietnam (EVFTA) was a lever for tuna exports to the EU market in the fourth quarter of 2020. The value of Vietnam's tuna exports to this market increased continuously in the fourth quarter, reaching nearly 38 million USD, up 20% over the same period in 2019. As a result, the total value of exports to the EU in the whole year 2020 went up to 136 million USD, up by 2.4% compared to 2019.
