(seafood.vasep.com.vn) After a process of peer-reviewing, the Provincial Council of Science and Technology (including the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) agreed to grant the right to use geographical indications for Ca Mau black tiger shrimp products (1st phase) for 3 enterprises: MINH PHU SEAFOOD Corp, Minh Phu Mangroves shrimp social Enterprise, and Ca Mau Seafood Processing & Service Joint Stock Corporation (CASES).
Accordingly, Minh Phu Seafood Corp was granted a Certificate of Right to use the Geographical Indication "Ca Mau" for processed black tiger products. Geographical area: Raw prawns were purchased from Ngoc Hien, Nam Can, Phu Tan, Dam Doi, Cai Nuoc, and Tran Van Thoi districts (Song Doc town, Loi An commune, Phong Dien commune, Phong Lac commune), Thoi Binh (Ho Thi Ky commune, Tan Loc commune, Tan Loc Dong commune, Tan Loc Bac commune).
Minh Phu Mangroves shrimp social Enterprise (Bien Nhan Hamlet, Vien An Dong Commune, Ngoc Hien District) was granted a Certificate of Right to Use Geographical Indication "Ca Mau" for raw prawns purchased from the ecological/organic certified area in Vien An Dong, Vien An, Dat Mui, Tan An, Tam Giang Tay communes, and Rach Goc town in Ngoc Hien district.
Ca Mau Seafood Processing & Service Joint Stock Corporation (CASES) (No. 04, Nguyen Cong Tru Street, Ward 8, Ca Mau City) was granted a Certificate of Right to Use Geographical Indication "Ca Mau" for prawn products. Raw and processed prawns were purchased from Tam Giang Dong commune, Nam Can district and Nguyen Huan commune, Dam Doi district.
The certificate of right to use the geographical indication "Ca Mau" for the above-mentioned prawn products is valid for 5 years from the date of issue (can be extended). In case an enterprise wants to amend or supplement the right to use the geographical indication of Ca Mau prawn (such as: expanding the geographical area or making other changes), the enterprise granted the right to use the geographical indication is to file required documents.
Ca Mau black tiger shrimp is the main agricultural product of the province. Investing in black tiger shrimp, businesses will be supported to invest in agriculture and rural areas according to Resolution No. 24/2019/NQ-HDND, dated December 6, 2019 of the People's Council of Ca Mau province.
