Pilot agricultural insurance for farmed pangasius and shrimp

(vasep.com.vn) In August 23rd 2012, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has promulgated the Circular No. 43/2012/TT-BNNPTNT amending and supplementing some articles of the Circular No. 47/2011/TT-BNNPTNT dated June 29th 2011 of MARD on guiding pilot implementation of agricultural insurance in livestock farming, aquaculture under the Decision No. 315/QĐ-TTg dated March 1st 2011 of the Prime Minister.

According to the Circular, agricultural insurance is applied to pangasius in Ben Tre and Tra Vinh provinces; black tiger shrimp in Ben Tre, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau and Soc Trang provinces along with additional list of black tiger shrimp and whiteleg shrimp in Tra Vinh province.

Supplementary list of epidemics supported by the insurance program includes liver pus disease on farmed pangasius; white spot syndrome virus, yellow head virus, Hematopoitic Necrosis (IHHNV), Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Syndrome (AHPNS) on black tiger shrimp; white spot syndrome virus, yellow head virus, Hematopoitic Necrosis (IHHNV), Infectious Meonecrosis Virus ((IMNV), Taura syndrome, Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Syndrome (AHPNS) on whiteleg shrimp.

Based on losses caused by natural disasters, epidemic and affected scale, insurance companies and insurance buyers will negotiate compensation. In case, two sides cannot reach an argreement,  People Committee at communes will intervene.
