Vietnam shrimp exports

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Accumulating 6 months, Vietnam's shrimp export turnover was 2.3 billion USD, up 31% over the same period last year. In the second half of the year, many economic fluctuations affected exports in general and the shrimp industry in particular. Mr. Ho Quoc Luc, Chairman of the Board of Directors of FIMEX VN (HOSE: FMC) answered the interview about the shrimp industry in general and strategies of FIMEX VN.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam shrimp exports in July continued the trend of slow down in June, reaching 381 million USD, down 14% compared to the same period 2021. In July, among the main markets, exports to the US and China decreased 54% and 17% respectively. Shrimp exports to the remaining markets such as Japan, Korea and the EU maintained the positive growth.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Up to May 15th, 2022, Vietnam’s shrimp export value to Canada had reached 100 million USD, up by 87% compared to the same period last year. Shrimp export to this market has recorded a considerable growth in the past two years, and is evaluated to have further opportunity to thrive in the near future.

There remains large room for Vietnam’s shrimp industry to strive for greater export growth in the next few years, said the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In 2021, Bac Lieu's seafood exports will reach 73,790 tons and a turnover of more than 776 million USD. In which, frozen shrimp brought in over 755 million USD.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to data of Vietnam Customs, as of December 15, 2021, Vietnam's shrimp exports reached $3.7 billion, up 3.7% over the same period in 2020. Shrimp exports for the whole year in 2021 are estimated at about 3.88 billion USD, up 4% compared to 2020. In which, exports to the US and EU markets continue to record good growth rates.

(seafood. vasep.com.vn) Despite the Covid-19 epidemic, Vietnam's shrimp exports in the last months of 2021 are still on the growth track after a period of stagnation. This has contributed to increasing the price of raw shrimp in the Mekong Delta. By the end of October 2021, Vietnam's shrimp export turnover reached 3.2 billion USD, up 2.6% over the same period last year.

(vasep.com.vn) Russia is the 9th largest market for shrimp imports from Vietnam, accounting for 1.3% of the total value of Vietnam's shrimp exports. Although it is only a small import market, Vietnam's shrimp exports to Russia in the first 7 months of this year grew very well. However, from August until now, due to social distancing to prevent the Covid epidemic, production has been halted, shrimp exports to Russia as well as all markets have decreased.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Thanks to a lot of efforts, up to now, Soc Trang shrimp industry has basically overcome the challenges during the period of implementing social distancing to ensure the prevention and control of COVID-19 . The difficulties that are solved in time and the optimistic signals of consumer demand in both domestic and foreign markets are good opportunities for shrimp farmers and seafood processing companies in this locality to restore the production chain in the remaining months of the year.

(seafood. vasep.com.vn) In the first half of 2021, Vietnam's shrimp exports reached 1.7 billion USD, up by 13.7% over the same period in 2021. Exports to all main markets, except for China, grew well. This is a great effort of Vietnamese shrimp exporters ever since the Covid-19 pandemic appeared.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The Mekong Delta is entering the brackish water shrimp farming season in 2021, with an estimated increase in the farming area and harvest compared to 2020. However, since the beginning of the year until now, the COVID-19 epidemic has continued to break out, causing the shrimp exports of enterprises in the Mekong Delta face many difficulties, especially in the field of logistics, affecting and reducing the profits of shrimp companies in particular and seafood enterprises in general.
