Smoked seafood distributed in Western states recalled over botulism
November 11, 2011, 03:42 AM

(SeafoodSource) A California importer

The potentially contaminated seafood was distributed between March 2010 and October 2011 and sold in 6-oz. clear vacuum-packed plastic packages.

The recall follows a test by the Food and Drug Administration that turned up Clostridium botulinum, the bacteria that causes botulism. Botulism is very serious and even small amounts of the toxin can cause severe food poisoning.

The company said it has received no reports of illness.
