Soc Trang: Brackishwater shrimp farming develops well
October 01, 2013, 05:27 PM
(vasep.com.vn) Up to now, brackishwater shrimp crop of Soc Trang province has been harvested with high productivity and high selling price.

Until the early September 2013, local shrimp farmers has stocked 40,533 hectares, equating to 90.1 percent of yearly plan. 41,000 MT of shrimp have been harvested and the farming area of 20,000 hectares have not been harvested.

All shrimp farming localities of the province up to now have a bumper harvest and farmed shrimp is growing well.

The farming area of whiteleg shrimp is being expanded rapidly in the province. However, the province should place an emphasis on black tiger shrimp farming because this species has high potentiality. Competent authorities of the province should give proper plans to encourage farmers to boost farming this species.
