Tra Vinh province: Black tiger production increases a lot

According to Fisheries Department of Tra Vinh southern province, Can Tho city, black tiger harvest season this year finished. The production harvested by 23,967 black tiger farming households in the province was 22,682 MT, an increase of 2,968 MT compared to the same period of last year. The average productivity of 2,165 hectare-industrial farming area gained 2.76-4.5 MT/hectare; 7,840 hectare-semi-industrial farming : 1.11-1.9 MT/hectare; 7,986 hectare-extensive farming and shrimp-paddy cultivation: 0.45-1.1 MT/hectare.

Average crop yield is 0.715 MT/hectare, which is 0.2 MT/hectare higher than the yield of 2006. It is estimated that profits which farmers get from each black tiger farming model this year is VND 5 - 15 million (USD 300,000 - 900,000/hectare) more than 2006.
