March 28, 2017, 01:58 PM
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Ca Mau province (Vietnam) aims to produce 20 billion of shrimp seed including 12 billion of black tiger shrimp seeds and 8 billion of whiteleg shrimp seeds in 2020.

By 2020, shrimp seed production will meet about 60-70% of the demand, more than 70% of stocking shrimp seed have good quality and 95% of shrimp seed is quarantined.

The demand in shrimp seed is from 20 to 25 billion per year due to large aquaculture area in Ca Mau of more than 290,000 hectares. Currently, the shrimp seed production in the province reached about 10 billion, mostly black tiger shrimp seed. Thus, there is a lack of shrimp seed in the locality

In the near future, Ca Mau will focus on renovating and upgrading the shrimp seed producing farms to improve the quality of seed as well as building certificated farms.
