(pangasius-vietnam.com) Pangasius producing provinces in Mekong Delta has export 84,000 MT of pangasius, boosting total fish export volume to 377,000 MT so far this year.
At the current time, the region has sent pangasius products to 133 countries and territories and brought back US$1.154 billion of revenue, down 0.5 percent against that of the compatible period of last year. The U.S., the EU and ASEAN markets consumed 53 percent of Vietnam fish export.
To ensure raw fish for processing, Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) directed relevant government authorities in localities to help farmers to remain at least 5.500 hectares of fish farming areas for an expected production of 1.2 million MT of fish this year.
Fish farming localities were also required to give attention to controlling the quality of fish fingerlings and aquatic feed to provide high quality pangasius products to export. In addition, they need to take initiatives to intensify pangasius export and protect the fish from allegation.
